Obituary of Christina Jean Jefferies

Peacefully at Grey Bruce Regional Health Centre, Owen Sound early Friday morning March 4, 2016. Christine 'Chris' Jefferies (nee Woodger) of Owen Sound and formerly of Tobermory in her 86th year. She was born on May 25, 1930 in Toronto, Ontario. Following high school she followed her dream of becoming a dedicated registered nurse. Chris was a very well respected nurse at Toronto General Hospital and retired from Grey Bruce Regional Health Services, Owen Sound in 1993. In 1959 she married Robert 'Jeff' Jefferies and together they enjoyed entertaining, photography, gardening and their cottage and eventually their home overlooking Flowerpot Island. After Jeff's death in April, 2006, Chris remained in her beloved home in Tobermory until June, 2015. Chris was a well known hiker and contributor to the Bruce Trail. Chris loved adventure and she cherished diving off the wrecks in and around the Tobermory area. A unique soul, Chris loved biking throughout Canada and beyond and had friends in every country. She was one of the originators of getting a bike lane in Tobermory. She will be greatly missed by her dear friends Cathy, Murray and Mitchell Addison, David Sealy, Laurel Dinsmore, Harold Mannen and Sharon and Tom Williamson and family as well as many friends from Tobermory and beyond. Chris is survived by her brother James Woodger of Downsview as well as nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Jeff, parents Charles and Jean Woodger and brother Robert Woodger. A service to celebrate Chris's life will be held at the Tobermory United Church on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Brad Inglis officiating. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, LION'S HEAD CHAPEL, Lion's Head. Spring interment Prospect Cemetery, Toronto.
