Messages of condolence may be sent to the family through www.georgefuneralhome.com Memories from Ron - Florence was born in Kinkora, Ontario to Patrick and Catherine (Stock) Hishon on February 10th, 1919. She was the last survivor of her large Irish Canadian family, brothers: Ignatius, Leonard (Dell), Harold (Rheta), Thomas (Beatrice), Joseph (Irene), Jack (Marie) and Jimmy and sisters: Marie and Mabel. Surviving sisters-in-law are: Rheta (Harold) Hishon, Marie (Jack) Hishon, Irene (Joe) Hishon and Alma (Ed) Hildebrand. Florence and Norm enjoyed a long, close and rewarding marriage based on family values and nurtured friendship. Mom was all I (Ron) could wish for in a mother (Perfection). She enjoyed a remarkable relationship with her grandchildren and their families and her great grandchildren. Nieces and nephews have been valued by Florence, she enjoyed many meaningful and humorous times with them. Norm and Florence enjoyed many friendships through the years. Family, work, music, hockey, bowling, Ipperwash, Florida, Bruce Peninsula and Jamaica provided many memorable friendships. Her time at McCarthy Place in Stratford was rewarding. The residents and staff are fine people. Mom spent her last days in a palliative situation here in our Lion’s Head home. She had an inoperable brain tumor. This care period was difficult but left us with a very positive feeling for Mom and our family. It is here I will mention the indescribable relationship my mother and my wife Terry enjoyed. Recently and through the years they have been a loving pair. Thanks, Terry. Mom has been cremated and will join Norm at Avondale Cemetery in Stratford. We will have a homespun family ceremony there in the near future. We ask for no flowers and no specific donations. We ask you to have a warm, kind or humorous thought or action in Mom’s memory. Thanks Ron
