Deepest Sympathy to all of the Meneray family on the sad loss of Maurice.
Maurice built our home on Hwy.- #6 at Wiarton in 1973. Carm Caudle did the masonry work. When we moved and sold our home, the Building Inspector said it was the best built house he had ever inspected.
One day Maurice came to the house and knocked on the door holding a newspaper in his hand and said he was collecting for the Owen Sound Sun Times. We had not met him yet and we believed him and went running back into the house looking for money to pay him for the newspaper.
We had so many laughs with Maurice.
May he rest in Peace.

In 1967 I was 11 years old and I was visiting my grandmother Ada Steip . Maurice was working in the barber shop attached to my grandmothers house. My 9 year old sister and I were kneeling on the bench staring in the window as he was closing up the shop for the night. He was washing the floor and then noticed my sister and I. He then picked up the pail of soapy water and threw it at us from the inside of the shop.My sister and I couldn't believe our eyes and then he pretended he was going to slip and fall.Hilarious, We will never forget it. Dear Joyce and family,

Our condolences to the Meneray family,
We have always gotten a kick out of chatting with Maurice, he was always good for a laugh.
For instance, we had been hiking back from the Lion's Head point along Moore St. when Maurice appeared on his scooter. He asked if he was going the right way to get to Toronto. We tried to get him going the right direction and asked why he needed to get to Toronto. He had to catch a flight to Rio of course, for the Olympics... When asked what event he would be competing in he said he was taking part in the "standing broad jump". You can probably sort out the punch line from there.
We will miss these encounters and seeing him around the harbour.
