HUNTER, James Kent 'Jim'of Wiarton and formerly of Kitchener-Waterloo passed away at Wiarton Hospital on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in his 83rd year. Husband of Margaret who predeceased him in 2010. Loving father of J. Stephen (Heather) Hunter of Southampton and Thomas (Laura) Hunter of Waterloo. Cherished grandfather of six. He will be sadly missed by his brother Bill (Shirley) Hunter of Wiarton and sister Elizabeth (Brian) Stefan of Wiarton. Jim was predeceased by his parents Alice (Kent) and J. Rolph Hunter. At the age of 18, Jim decided to move to Toronto to live with his uncle and become an accountant. He obtained the CA designation and went on to be elected a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA). His first job was as an auditor for a small accounting firm. One of the great pleasures of his life was his role in the Toronto Press Club, in which he had the privilege of paying the guest stars, such as Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, Tony Bennett, and Peggy Lee. Thus began his life long love affair with music. In 1965 he moved his family to Kitchener-Waterloo and assumed a new position as controller of a private business. In the early 1980's he became President of Electrolux Canada. Jim loved sports, travelling and card games. He was a keen badminton and tennis player. He was also an active member of the United Church. After a successful career he came back to his roots in Wiarton, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. We would like to thank the numerous caregivers that devoted their time to Jim, both in his residence, and later in the New Horizons retirement home, where he received love and care from both staff and residents. We will all miss his great sense of humour and easy-going nature.Private family arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton. A private memorial service to celebrate Jim's life will be held on May 19th at Sandy Lane Farm in Southampton Ontario.
