Obituary of Russell Davis
DAVIS, Russellof Wiarton passed away suddenly at Wiarton Hospital with family by his side on Saturday, July 11, 2009 in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Eleanor and cherished father of Susan Davis and Nancy Davis (Bob Canham) all of Wiarton. Special grandfather of Kyle and Sean and great grandfather of Keira. He will be sadly missed by his brother Ralph (Alice) Davis and sister-in-law Margaret Bryce, both of Toronto, as well as many nieces and nephews. Russell was predeceased by his parents Jessie (Glover) and Charles Davis, brother Alan and sisters Verna Jones and Evelyn Rowe.Russell was the industrial arts teacher at Wiarton District High School for 33 years instructing countless youngsters in the art and science of carpentry, electricity, sheet metal work, welding, small engine repair and other related trades, drafting, physical education, math and driver training. One highlight of his career was the gradual acceptance of female students into the industrial arts courses, the first of which was his own daughter Nancy. Russell was also a faithful Rotary member obtaining 49 years of perfect attendance and receiving the distinguished Paul Harris fellowship in 1992.Family and friends are invited to share their memories at the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Russell's life will be held at St. John's United Church, on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Wiarton Rotary Club or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
