Obituary of Ann Loghrin

LOGHRIN, AnnFollowing a heroic confrontation with a brain tumour, Ann Elisabeth Loghrin of Lion's Head, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 26, 2009, with her family at her side. Ann was the daughter of Helena Jorna and the late John Jorna. She was born in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands, and emigrated with her family to live in Stratford. She is survived by her husband and best friend Bill Loghrin, her mother, brothers Mike Jorna (Betty), Sid Jorna (Rosemary), John Jorna (Lucy) and numerous nieces and nephews, and friends. Ann applied her artistry to the operation of her own Beauty Salon, and, after moving to Lion's Head, to becoming a self-taught computer expert, and to tending to flowers and plants at the garden centre. She generously shared her talents with family, friends, and neighbours. She will be dearly missed. Her summertime passion was enjoying long cruises with Bill and their pets on their sailboat "Taliesyn". Ann will be missed by the extensive sailing community that spends summers in the bays and anchorages of the North Channel.Funeral arrangements include visitation at the DAVIDSON CHAPEL, 71 Main Street, Lion's Head, from 2 to 4 pm, and from 7 to 9 pm on Thursday May 28 2009. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr David Reilander at BETHEL MISSIONARY CHURCH, 18 Ferndale Road, Lion's Head at 11:00 am Friday May 29, 2009 followed by interment at Eastnor Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton. As expressions of condolence, Ann's wishes are that donations be made to the Lion's Head Hospital, or to the Owen Sound Animal Shelter.
