STEIP, Helenof Wiarton passed away with her family by her side on Sunday, March 1, 2009 in her 96th year. Loving mother of Bill (Bertha Kinch) of Wiarton and Wayne (Mae McConnell) of St. Thomas. Cherished grandmother of Kim (Earl) Schopf of Kingsville, Patti (Doug) Dixon of Wiarton, Allan (Kirstie) of Niagara-On-The-Lake, Jeff of St. Thomas and Peter (Sherie) of St. Thomas. Dear great grandmother of Jill, Matt, Tom, Jennifer, Ethan, Michael, Glen and Cody and great great grandmother of Andrew. She will be sadly missed by her brother Elmer Bray of Wiarton and sister-in-law Maisie Bray of Lion's Head as well as many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her husband Percy, parents Agnes (Jenks) and Joseph Bray, brother Russell, sister Mary Tucker and daughter-in-law Ruth Steip.Helen was well known as the storekeeper in Mar for 30 years. She was a very generous person and volunteered her time for many organizations over the years. She was named Citizen of the Year by the Lion's Club in 1986 and was given an Ontario Volunteer Service Award in 2003 recognizing over 50 years of community service. She was also a lifetime member of Unity Rebekah Lodge #147 as well as a founding member of the Ladies Auxilliary at the Wiarton Hospital.Visitation will be held at the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton on Tuesday, March 3, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The memorial service to celebrate Helen's life will be held at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Wiarton on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. David Leggatt officiating. Cremation has taken place. Spring interment Eastnor Cemetery. Donations made to the Wiarton Hospital, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
