Obituary of Olive Rubye Smith
SMITH, Rubye Oliveof Wiarton, beloved spouse of Bill Smith (deceased 1996, Toronto) passed on peacefully with family by her side at Gateway Haven Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 13, 2009 in her 95th year. Cherished mother of Sylvia of Wiarton and her husband Jack Masters (deceased 2002 Wiarton), Lois and her husband Raymond Hultay of Wiarton, Lynda and her husband Owen Parker of Newmarket and Iris Fraser (deceased 2008 Wiarton) and her husband Don Fraser of Wiarton. Dearly loved grandmother of Paul, John, Philip, Michael, Melanie, Robert, Dianne, Brian, Derek, Carl, Sarah, Sandra, Mark (deceased 1998, Chicago), Scott, Michael and Darla as well as many great and great great grandchildren.Rubye will be sadly missed by her family, many friends and the staff at Gateway Haven Nursing Home that loved her winning smile and zest for life. She was called 'whistling Rubye' as she danced down the hallways and made her cheerful presence known. Her motto was 'Laugh and the world will laugh with you.'In respect of Rubye's wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held at Gateway Haven Nursing Home, 671 Frank Street, Wiarton on Saturday, January 24, 2009 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the memorial service to celebrate Rubye's life at 2:00 p.m. Major (Ret.) Charles Young officiating. A time to share good memories and enjoy refreshments to follow. Spring interment at Prospect Cemetery, Toronto. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Gateway Haven Nursing Home, Recreation and Leisure Department.
