Obituary of Vera Smith

SMITH, Veraof Hanover, and formerly of Stokes Bay, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, April 14, 2007 in her 79th year. Beloved wife of Bruce for 58 years. Cherished mother of Steven (Sharon) of Beamsville, Shelley Smith (Wade Ingold) of Glencoe and Chris (Shirley) of Woodstock. She will be sadly missed by 6 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother Stan Stevens of Richards Landing and sisters-in-law Elsie Stevens of Richards Landing and Ella Stevens of Espanola. Vera was predeceased by her parents Bertha (Bassingthwaighte) and William Stevens, 6 brothers, 4 sisters and 1 granddaughter.Vera was the Past Legion Zone Commander for C4, was a Legion Member of Lions Head Legion, Branch #202 and the Ladies Auxilliary of the Chesley Legion.In accordance with Vera's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a memorial service to celebrate Vera's life at the Davidson Chapel, 71 Main Street, Lions Head on Saturday, May 26th at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Peter Longmore officiating. Interment Stokes Bay Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton. As expressions of sympathy, donations made to the Cancer Society or Palliative Care, Hanover Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
