Obituary of Robert Winters

WINTERS SR., Robert (Bob)passed away surrounded by his family at Lions Head Hospital on Thursday, February 22, 2007 in his 74th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Elinor for 53 years. Cherished father of Diane (Guy) York, Cynthia (Angelo) Currado, Kathryn Ryan, Joanne (Gary) Bender, and Elizabeth (Dave) Sullivan all of Michigan, Kim (Keith) Cowley of Wiarton, Robert (Karen) Winters of Dyer's Bay, Jeff (Jennifer) Winters of Lions Head and Rick (Sandra) Winters of Owen Sound. He will be sadly missed by 25 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, brother John Winters of Florida and sisters Joan (Harold) Cook and Beverly (Jack) Lee both of Michigan. Bob was predeceased by his parents Minnie and John Winters.After graduating from Ferndale High School in Michigan, Bob worked for IBM in Michigan until 1985. Bob and Elinor then moved to Lions Head where they owned the Lions Head Home Hardware until 1991. Bob was the first president of the Lions Head Chamber of Commerce, started the Neighbourhood Watch program in the area and owned the Winter's Wharf Bed & Breakfast for 10 years. Bob was an avid writer who also taught and wrote many articles about computers.The family will receive friends at the DAVIDSON CHAPEL, Lions Head on Saturday, February 24, 2007 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. In accordance with Bob's wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton. Donations made to the Lions Head Hospital, Today's Spirit, Tomorrow's Care Campaign or the Lung Association, would be appreciated by the family.
