Obituary of James Douglas Poste

At University Hospital, London on Friday, March 13, 2015 in his 83rd year. With many fond memories to cherish, we say goodbye for now to Captain J. Douglas Poste of Oliphant. Much loved by his late wife Clare Poste and the late Joan Morris. Beloved father of Tim and his wife Karen of Owen Sound, Randy of Owen Sound, Mary Dawson and her husband Randy of Oliphant and Andy and his wife Connie of Owen Sound. Devoted 'Gramps' to Amanda (Andrew), Matthew, Sarah (Mike), Kelly and Jackie (Brendon) and proud great grandfather to Samuel. At age 24, Doug was the youngest Captain on the Great Lakes. He enjoyed a distinguished and respected 50 year career until his retirement from the Pilot Authority in 1997. He will be deeply missed by his extended family and friends. Born at Colpoy's Bay, Doug was predeceased by his parents Mary (McGarvey) and James Poste and sisters Joan and Marion. Special thanks to the wonderful nursing staff in Wiarton and London. Friends may call at the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton on Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from the funeral home Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. with Rev.
