I consider myself so blessed to have known Eva most of my life. My friendship with Mary gave me many opportunities to visit with Eva. She had such a lovely way of making me feel special and showed great interest in what was going on in my life. I will miss calling her home and hearing her lyrical voice. No one could say "hello" like Eva. She never missed sending me a birthday card which was handmade and always made me smile. Her generosity, kindness and loving nature will be missed by many!

My sincere sympathy to you, all of Eva's family at this very sad time. I have very fond memories of Eva from my early years when we lived in Wiarton. I first met Eva through the Hull family at the time when she was a new bride having just married your father. My mother Jean Weaver (Kirk), who passed away last year, remembered Eva and spoke about her fondly. As Captain of the 1st Wiarton Guide Company of which I belonged, Eva provided excellent leadership and encouragment to the entire group. I recall completeing my pioneer badge in the back yard of her home when had I to build some camp craft. In the early 1970s a London (England) evening newspaper advertisement joined us in a friendship with the Nickel family. In all these years, whether by letter, phone and sometimes in person and latterly by Skype, Eva always extended to us her warmth, humour and welcome. No more bubbly and very friendly, "Hello!", when I would answer her cheery phone calls. We all are now bereft in every sense of the word. Despite her being on this earth for close to a century, where someone like Eva is concerned, one just thinks that she will go on forever. Foolish, I know. Wishful thinking, but for the many who knew and loved her really quite understandable. She was my mother-in-law and now I feel like an orphan. Eva accomplished much and had so many talents. It is safe to say that she positively touched all who were very lucky enough to know her and infected all with her indomitable optimism. She never had a critical thing to say about anyone and was always the [very kind] soul of charity. She was a pillar of her small community and that community must be reeling now. She was the light of her family...what will we do now without her wise counsel...? As I cast my glance around I see no one that can even hope to match her qualities. God, I miss her!
