Nancy and entire Botting family,
I want to send my deepest sympathy to each and every one of you. I know losing a parent is never easy....you can never have the opportunity to speak with that person again....but be thankful you have all those wonderful memories to continue your love for him, and the fact that you are able to share those memories with each other.
I know from listening to Nancy's stories of her father (and having had the pleasure meeting him), he was a good, kind man with good moral and values, and it is comforting to know that he was loved by all that knew him.
It's hard letting go, but we all know that Ed is in a better place, and that is comforting to know.
Ed will live on in you Nancy, and everyone who had the priviledge of knowing him. Yes, Ed is gone in the physical sense, but he is with each and every one of you in memories. The funeral is a day to appreciate, honor, show your respect, cherish, and share good memories of a man that lived a full life and brought love and joy to those he knew.
My thoughts and prayers are will you all.

To Shirley, and her family, I am very blessed to have known Ed and Shirley for a few good years. It was so good to see the love they shared, and their pride in their family.
No matter how they were, or what was happening, they shared in it, and seemed to be happy in the moment, with each other. I was also blessed to have shared some of Ed's fantastic lemon pies. The merengue was as high as a castle sometimes. Shirley, I am sending you a big hug from me. Take care of yourself, 'cause you are loved by many.

Shirley we are so sorry to hear of Ed's passing. We have been away and just arrived home late last evening,( Bob Anderson sent us an email). It is now too late to make it in time for the funeral. Jack and I will take a drive over to visit you this month if we are able. Praying that you are well, and thankful that you have your children and family to support you through this difficult time. We had a good visit with Uncle Ed on Canada Day. He was sharing memories and joking with us. We were talking about the smart offspring he and Shirley had raised and Ed said, "They get their brains from their mother. I've still got mine."
We will be at the rehearsal and wedding of our grandson on July 10 and 11 in St Thomas and will not be able to be at Uncle Ed's funeral.
