I am writing today, May 23, 2023, because my son wanted to know who inspired me to go into teaching. Bill died eight years ago, but I have not expressed my regrets at his passing, consoled his family at their loss, and thanked him publicly for being so instrumental in my life. He was a wonderful man and a superb teacher. His love of art art and music became part of my life as well; his a Christianity and love of God made a public school a rare testimonial to both.God bless you bill. My apologies for not doing this much sooner. Thanks for all the letters you wrote me, often keeping me abreast of family connections large and small from other relatives under his care and tutelage.
RIP

We were all saddened to learn of cousin Bill's passing. He was a character - and always a true gentleman. For many years Bill would stop at my workplace - early morning - and most days mid-afternoon as well, on his daily walk - and we would share a short chat - usually about our shared interest of our Meneray family history - or - some days we would discuss the latest town scandal! I would still be laughing as Bill said goodbye with a tip of his hat and continued on his way. I have missed his visits this past year - dearly - and will cherish those little visits always - as well as visits to his apartment to look at old photos - as he knew about my passion for preserving family photos - and my hobby of scrapbooking. Our sincerest condolences to all. RIP Bill - you will be remembered always.

Deepest sympathy to the Meneray Family and Friends on Bill's passing. I'll miss Bill's sense of humor and laugh. Bill shared freely of his knowledge and books relating to the maritime history of his family and Georgian Bay and it was interesting to see his notations and corrections on already published text. Bill always insisted that things must be done correctly or not done at all and lived up to that belief.
Bill will be sadly missed,

What a wonderful neighbour Bill was to my sister, Jean Gooderham (Hilditch), when she lived in Wiarton!
My husband and I came to admire cousin Bill for his meticulousness as family historian, his teaching stories and his caring support of community, church and family.
What a good example you were to all of us, Bill!

Thinking of you all, as you say good -bye to Bill. He was such an amazing person in so many ways. I always felt we had a lot in common-the love of music, well played, a beautifully set table, with fine china and silver, as well as teaching in the public system. He and Ivan, too, shared many things, especially I remember the stories that were shared, when they fished out of the Basin. I will miss our many visits, over a cup of tea, as well as the meals, that he prepared for Ivan and me, in his Wiarton apartment. I have an abundance of good memories that I will hold in my heart, and I know you will, too.
With love and sympathy,
Elaine

Bill will be greatly missed by his friends at the Elm Street Apartments. When I visited my Dad, Bill was always out tending to flowers or cleaning his car. He always had a friendly hello or took the time to discuss the history of the Meneray's. He was very proud of his brothers and sisters. Our deepest sympathy to the family in the loss of a great gentleman. RIP Bill....

My deepest sympathy in the passing of Bill. My husband was Wayne, and he was always pleased to talk with Bill and remember the old school days, etc. and all the things about growing up and going to school in Lion's Head.
