Your Dad and I were in the same new entry class in HMCS Naden in 1948. We later sailed together in HMCS Huron, we made the European Cruise in 1950. We often sat together at the HMCS Huron Reunions. Doug was a great guy; and was liked by all who knew him. He will be sorely missed; I know I will miss seeing him at the reunions. I know this is not a sad tribute but it is the way I feel about Doug. Take care of each other

My sincere regrets to your family at the passing of Doug. I knew him from working at Tiffany Robins' office and immediately realised what a complete gentleman he was. People of Mr. Cooper's caliber are few and far between. You must be very proud to have had him for so many years.

My thoughts and prayers are with you and family, Doug's many friends in Lion's Head will miss his friendly touch to all, and I am loosing my gambling buddy. Doug was a wonderful gentleman sad to loose such a good friend.

Please accept my condolences to Doug's family. I am Alf Meyer's Granddaughter. My Gramps has lost a dear friend. He will miss his visits, his coffee dates, his Friday suppers out to Marydale's, his scenic drives, and his companionship. I was in Doug's company enough to know that he was true gentleman with a kind heart. I am grateful that my Grandfather had such a wonderful person as Doug - in his life. Doug was a very kind and gentle man. Always a smile on his face. We loved our conversations with him at Marydale's restaurant. it was always a pleasure to see Doug and we will miss him.

Doug was a participant in our VON Smarties programme. He was a very sweet man who helped keep our class in line. I called him our policeman. He knew the programme so well that when I got lost leading the class he would straighten me out. He had a great sense of humour and knew exactly the right thing to say at the appropriate time. We will truly miss him.

Doug, you were one of the most reliable patients I've ever known. Always on time, even when I wasn't. Always content to wait your turn when others weren't. Always a word of encouragement for me, plus treats for the staff. It seemed we were always there for each other during life's rough patches, and there were many. You did more good than you knew and I'm so very glad to have known you.
