I hope this memory reaches your family after all this time. I’ve had health issues but have remembered Mrs Jeffries all my life. I’m a grad of TGH school of nursing, 1972. Mrs. Jeffries taught me in the comprehensive portion of my training on Dr. Wolfe’s Pulmonary Unit. She taught me to think critically, to always problem solve and to trust myself. She was also the kindest person, warm and open. She even advised me when I was leaving to get married, sharing advice like a big sister.
She was a very special person and am sure is, and will be missed.

We met Chris several times while staying at the Mannen cottage next to her home in Tobermory. We really admired her enthusiasm for all things physical including hiking and cycling. The last time we saw her she had suffered some serious illness but was still going strong, practicing her downward dog and plank. Way to go Chris!!

I am a 1970B graduate of the TGH School of Nursing. Mrs Jefferies (as we called her) was one of my teachers in my final year of training. Clinically we worked on the cardiovascular surgery unit. I had a couple of difficult weeks during that time and I always remember how helpful and kind Mrs Jefferies was to me. While I left clinical nursing quite early on I did study for other degrees and held executive health care positions in Ontario and British Columbia. I like to think that she would be happy to know this. In any case she left a wonderful legacy in those she taught.

I vividly remember my first day of work in 9ATU ( the post-op cardiac unit of 1962) Toronto General Hospital. I was greeted by Chris and from that day forward was mentored and encouraged by her. Her first priority was the welfare of her patients followed closely by that of her nurses. She was friendly, warm, and exacting. She was respected by all, I believe. My time there was relatively short as I went on to motherhood and for many years part-time work. I have thought of Chris many many times over the years. I knew she and her husband moved north and am so happy to know that her life was meaningful and happy. Well done!
