Dear Shirley and family we are so sorry for your loss. We got to know Bill during the many years he volunteered to drive for Day Away Program. He would faithfully come to pick up Isabel at our home twice a week. And when he brought Isabel home she would always say "won't you come in for a cup of tea". Bill would say "no no I got to get going, Shirley will have supper ready". Bill was an inspiration for what community is all about.

My condolences to the Hunter family on Bill's passing
He is fondled remembered by me with Reg in the Hunter Hardware store
And my great Uncle was Ab Cordingly
When I was writing some early retail reminisces about the retail community in Wiarton, I had this to say:
"However, the two longest standing businesses would appear to be Paterson’s Drugs and Hunter (Kyle) Hardware. These are not in business today, but consider that Jas. Paterson came to town in 1869 and Kyle in 1874. And both lasted for about 100 years in their original trade if not location. That, you will soon realize is staying power in Wiarton’s retail trade."

Growing up in Wiarton, Hunter Hardware was the place to go for everything from a shiny new bicycle to having your lawn mower blade sharpened. It was a treat even as a youngster to do an errand for your parents or neighbour by going to the hardware store and listen to stories ( all of them TRUE of course ) of the other patrons and the antidotes from Bill & Reg. They both were true treasured assets of the town. It was an honour to grow up knowing a man like Bill. Our sincere condolences to the Family of this fine man !!
