Obituary of Captain John Randle Harwood

HARWOOD, Captain John Randle at Summit Place Retirement Residence, Owen Sound Saturday March 18, 2017. John Harwood of Owen Sound and formerly of Wiarton in his 84th year. Captain Harwood sailed the Great Lakes for almost 50 years working his way up from a deck hand with the Hindman Transportation Company of Owen Sound. He became the youngest Captain on the Great Lakes when he took command of the Elmdale for Reoch Shipping. His last ship before becoming a Pilot was the Pinedale. He retired as a Great Lakes Pilot. Beloved husband of the late Gail (nee Hahn) 2013. Loving father of Randle and his wife Teresa of Fort Worth, Texas and Andrew of Toronto. Sadly missed by brother Bill of Owen Sound, and sisters-in-law Bonnie Harwood of Owen Sound and Deborah Hahn of Toronto. Predeceased by his parents Earl and Daisie Harwood and brother Charles. Friends may call at the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted from Trinity Anglican Church, Gould Street, Wiarton on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Rev.
