To the family of Betty. I met Betty when I was 19, working as a newly licensed funeral director for Brian Downs. Betty was looking after the Oxenden cemetery at the time and took great pride in it. I always had great respect for her and always looked forward to visiting with her at the cemetery.

Eric, Joel and the Siegrist/Barker families. We are so sorry to hear of Betty's passing.
We came to know Betty through the Bruce/Grey Genealogical Society many years ago. She was such a wonderful person, full of fun and appeared to have boundless energy. If there was anyone who wanted to find out about a family in this area, she either knew outright or knew exactly where to go or who to talk to get the information. She was a tireless worker for the organization.
Some days when we would stop off at her home to drop off some paperwork, she would be out on the riding mower cutting grass or in the garden picking red currants for her delicious jam.
A good life - well lived - she will be missed by all who knew her.

I am very saddened to learn of Betty's passing.
She was so much fun to be around, whether I was there servicing her photocopier, or skiing with her at the Colpoys Bay trails, and I got to enjoy several jars of her delicious red currant jelly, too.
She was certainly a very special lady who will be missed by the community.
My sincere condolences to Eric, and Joel and family.

Eric; please accept our sincere condolences in the loss of your mom. I only met her a few times over the years when I worked at the Berford Theatre when Charlie was the projectionist there, so I know she was quite a lady for putting up with all his shenanigans !! I remember her being around the shop when I would have you fix stuff for me, such as the oleo on a Wet Bike ( remember that ) you wouldn't let me leave until you took it for a spin around the bay. No doubt if Charlie had seen us that day, he would have put Betty on the back and we wouldn't have seen them until it was out of gas !! If people like me have fond memories of your Mom & Dad, it is impossible to grasp or speak of the great memories that you, Joel, and the rest of the family must have of this wonderful Lady !!
Sincerely; our condolences to all.
Andy & Linda Smart.

Dear Siegrist Family, Although I never had the opportunity to meet Betty personally, I corresponded with her for quite a few years as I sent my updates from Lovat Cemetery to her for the records of the Genealogical Society. It was a yearly ritual, and I finally received notice that Betty was retiring, and I would be sending my updates to another. My sympathy to Betty's family...... she will be truly missed! Sharon Teeple, Secretary-Treasurer, Lovat Cemetery (near Paisley, ON)

Condolences to Betty's family members. Many genealogists and family historians will mourn Betty's passing. The incredible amount of indexing and transcribing that she did as a member of the Bruce & Grey County Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society was greatly appreciated by them. I have many memories of time spent talking with her at Branch events and at OGS Conferences.
