We were so sorry to read today in the Bruce Peninsula Press of Bert's passing. We were frequent visitors to Sawdust Crafts and are happy to have so many of his pieces at our Warner Bay cottage as well as at our home. He was a memorable character!

I'm sad to hear that Bert has passed. I have many great memories of fun times with Bert, Faye and my family. Later in life, my young boys had the great privilege of getting to know Bert, when my Dad would take them to Cameron Lake Restaurant to have coffee with Bert. They always had a fun story to tell about their time with him. Bert always knew how to make people laugh and feel happy. The last time I saw Bert was last summer at the Bakery. I asked him if he still could put one whole butter tart in his mouth. We laughed and he said "It's the only way to eat it!"

My condolences. Great memories of this fine man - whether at the shop, at the Princess, at the Men's Breakfast or just around town. Bert made a difference to the community that he helped to shape. It will not be the same coming back to Tobermory without being able to have a visit.
