Harvey Brush

Obituary of Harvey Brush

On the morning of Saturday November 4th, 2017, Harvey Brush suddenly passed away at home in his 94th year.  He will be lovingly remembered for the glint in his eye and the shine from the polished heather of his ring.  His footprint in Oliphant is both wide and deep, as a fixture of the community - touching many people with his passion for piping.  Never one to slow down, over the years he remained an active member of numerous bands, including: the Lorne Scots Pipe Regiment, Milton Pipe Band, Pipes and Drums of Canada, Grey County Highlanders, Owen Sound and District Pipes and Drums and the MacLaren Pipe and Drum Band.  When he wasn't piping, he was an active member of the local Men's Club, the Sauble Beach United Church and the Hepworth Legion.  He was known for always being willing to lend a hand when one was needed.  Harvey will be fondly remembered as the cherished father of Guy (pre), Kirk (pre) and Brad (Nancy).  Living an exemplary life for his grandchildren Erinn (Deepak), Owen, Nick (Evelyn), Lauren (pre), Mackenzie, Michael (Amy) and Cameron.  He even got to share time and touch the life of his first great grandchild Neko.  As a proud veteran of the Canadian Military, he approached every task with dedication and purpose, always taking pride in the value of hard work and a little elbow grease.  More than anything else, Harvey was the caring and loving husband of Helen Brush (nee Scott) for over 71 years.  She will miss him incredibly.  We could all learn a bit about trust, honesty, openness and perseverance from their relationship.  Grey Bruce will be a little less lively without Harvey. And the sunsets will be a little less spectacular.  The funeral service will be conducted from the Sauble Beach United Church on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. John Smith officiating.  The Royal Canadian Legion Branch #586 will conduct a service immediately prior to the funeral service.   Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton. Expressions of remembrance to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Hepworth Shallow Lake Legion Poppy Fund would be appreciated.  Messages of condolence are welcome at www.georgefuneralhome.com
