One of my earliest memories of my Uncle Jim is of an incident that happened at the cottage at Stoke's Bay when I was about five years old. I was outside my Grandfather's old cottage when I found a glass pane that had been cut to repair a broken window. Being a kid I didn't understand how sharp the glass was and I picked it up the wrong way. There were no adults around to tell me to leave it alone.
I almost immediately sliced my left thumb clear down to the bone. I was alone and didn't know where everyone had gone. I was in a lot of pain and bleeding profusely and very scared. I knew enough to walk down the beach a hundred yards or so to Uncle Jim's cottage to try and get help but no one was there.
My memories are somewhat sketchy at this point but Uncle Jim and my Dad did eventually find me. Uncle Jim had his first aid kit with him and he proceeded to clean and patch up my thumb. The pain was gone and I remember being one very relieved little guy!
I still have that scar on my thumb to this day. Whenever I notice it, I always remember Uncle Jim.

Spent all my summers growing up at Stokes Bay. The Loney's were a large part of all the wonderful experiences we all shared there. The Petho's, The Knola's, The Stonemans, The Myles, wonderful times and wonderful people. Jimmy always thought before he spoke, measured everything before it was said. A wonderful human being who will always be remembered. May you rest in Peace Jimmy.

Fourteen years ago I built a cedar shed at the cottage and was rather proud of it. I hauled the logs to a saw mill at Pike Bay to make the lumber. The roof included an 8' x 4' skylight to brighten the interior. Uncle Jim visited while I was working on the shed. I considered it quite a compliment when Uncle Milton later told me that Uncle Jim had said to him, “Maybe I should get Bob to build a shed for me.” Uncle Jim’s was a high standard of approval to meet.
