It was with shock and sadness that I learned about the passing of Gayle. Gayle was so keen and passionate about children and meeting their needs. She was most welcoming of our staff. She will be missed and has left her legacy with us all.

Chief, Council, Staff and Community members of Nawash wish to extend our sincere condolences to the family of Gayle Clark-Jones -Hopkins who has been an important and integral part of Nawash for many decades particularly in a caring capacity at the Day Care watching many of our community members grow from the baby room through to School- age
Gayle leaves behind a legacy of healthy life-long learning for us and there will be many people who will have fond memories of her laughter and smile. She was a highly organized and hard-working person who made the hardest tasks look effortless. Gayle was certainly one of those people who loved to work for her community as her dedication to her work at the Day Care was exemplary.
Gayle is survived by many children, grand- children, great- grand-children, nieces, nephews’ cousins and cherished friends. All who Gayle made a priority to have in her life.
It is our hope that those that are affected by Gayle’s passing find comfort in the knowledge that the community holds you close to our hearts and in our prayers as we say “baamaapii gwaabmin” to Gayle as you continue onto your next journey.

Even before daycare, Gayle was our bus driver, the summer camp leader and she also lead Sunday school at the United Church when I was growing up. I also had the privilege of knowing her away from her service jobs. Elizabeth and Maurice were both my very good friends. I am saddened to hear of Gayles passing.
