I am so grateful that I was able to reconnect with Dan later in life as he was always a great friend and teammate in my high school years. He made me feel fortunate to be his friend back then and once again when we caught up a couple of years ago. If there is any consolation in losing him, it is just that legacy of how comfortable he made you feel when you met him for the first time and how comfortable he made you feel every time thereafter. It is difficult to say goodbye because this crazy world needs more people like Daniel Arthur Service to help us make sense of it all and find better ways to get along. I was proud to call you my friend and teammate. Rest easy, Dan.

Carol,
I am very sorry to hear of Dan's passing. The Pleasant Valley neighborhood hasn't changed much since you left, except that the creek is much lower and those of us who let our dogs run free in the conservation area must beware of the bylaw folks that come by looking for dogs off leash. We lost Max suddenly 5 years ago and this year we lost Toby our cat and Charlie last month. I still remember when Cody was a puppy and Dan was walking him up Green Meadow how amazed I was at how well behaved he was.
I also remember him charging across the field at the park to say hi! It was a always a pleasure talking to you and Dan and walking in the valley.
Thinking of you at this sad time. May your memories of good and the love of your family give you strength at this time.

My brother Danny ❤
We sort of lost touch through the years...but we both always knew we were there.
Over the past 6 or 7 years we spent more time together. We talked about nature , life and ....even the cowboys....and shared our great love of dogs.
What was constant was his love of his family....he loved them all so dearly...such a happy grampa...he had many loves of his life....he was truly blessed
I am so glad we were able to make up for lost time. It meant a lot to me.
I'll think of him often , and very fondly.
