Obituary of Clara Smith

SMITH, Clara peacefully with family by her side Wednesday afternoon February 3, 2021.  Clara Smith (nee Hellyer) of Lion's Head in her 106th year.  She was raised in the Swan Lake area, daughter of the late Henry and Mary (Evens) Hellyer.  She spent most of her life at her farm in Lindsay Township and the last few years had her own apartment in the Golden Dawn Apartments in Lion's Head.  Beloved wife of the late Charles Smith (1975) and predeceased by her brothers William and Walter and sisters Venita Smith and Mary Williams.  Dearly loved mother of 8 children:  Adelle Kyle of Lion's Head, Mabel Krogh (Flemming pre 2004) of St. Catharines, Norma Brinkman (Gail) of Lion's Head, Betty Crow (Walter) of Alberta, Ted Smith (Leslea pre 2011), Roger Smith (Marion) of Nova Scotia, Marjorie Burley (Dave) of Stokes Bay and Ron Smith (Daphne) of Alberta.  Cherished grandma of 17 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  Missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbours.  She enjoyed reading, sudoku, any puzzle from the newspapers, music and always enjoyed visits from her family.

A graveside funeral service will be conducted at the Eastnor Cemetery on Monday, February 8, 2021 at 2:00 p.m.  Family and friends are invited to drive past the cemetery from 1:30 to 2:00 p.m. to pay respects.  Due to Covid restrictions, please do not exit your vehicle.  Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, LION'S HEAD CHAPEL, Lion's Head.  Expressions of remembrance to Golden Dawn Nursing Home would be appreciated.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family through www.georgefuneralhome.com
