Professor Piggott had a brilliant career at the University of Toronto, Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry. He was a world-renowned expert in composite materials and published extensively in the field. His research and innovations have made this world a better place. Professor Piggott set an example of hard work and high standard and was well-respected by students and colleagues at the university. I was one of the fortunate students who had the opportunity to learn from this great professor. My deepest condolences to the Piggott family – may you find peace and strength in his memory.

Professor Piggott had inspired many generations of undergraduate and graduate students through his distinguished career at the University of Toronto, Department of Chemical Engineering and Applied Chemistry. He was strict but kind to his students at the Advanced Composite Physics and Chemistry Group. Many of us were foreign students struggling with English as a second language. He not only guided us in research but patiently helped our English. We had great respect for Professor Piggott and many of us kept in touch after his retirement. The world has lost a great man and he will be missed by many. My deepest condolences to the Piggott family – my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Our deepest condolences from the Peninsula Bruce Trail Club on Michael’s passing. Michael and Norma joined as Bruce Trail Members around 1969 and eventually became Trail Captains for the Section in Hope Bay and up the escarpment as well as the Side Trail, Brock Street to Jack Poste South Junction. Anyone who has hiked the escarpment knows that this was no easy task and required outstanding commitment in both body and spirit. Michael and Norma continued as a Team (along with help from friend Patti) until 2019 when Michael was 90 and Norma was 86. Even then, Michael and Norma gave up their Trail work with some sadness after Caring for this section of the Peninsula Bruce Trail for nearly 30 years. We honour Michael’s memory and the amazing work and commitment shown to this Club, the Community and Nature itself.

I am very saddened to hear of Michael's passing. He was a wonderful, kind , interesting and giving, caring man. A truly wonderful and inspirational individual and great Canadian. His passing will leave a void in the community but he will forever be in my memories. My most sincere condolences to his family and close friends, his associates and to anyone touched by this wonderful human being. Rest in peace my friend.
