To Ken's family Betty, Marnie, and Ben I extend my sympathies in your ;loss. Ken was a wonderful spirit who inspired his students with spoken and written words, especially his whisper to open and spur on their imaginations. There was always an amazing feeling of anticipation and look of wonder in the children's eyes as they spent time in the library with their Mr. Munro. Me too! Thank you Ken for introducing me to your flying squirrels oh so long ago.

As a colleague, friend and our son's godfather, Ken had a great impact on our family's life. Our field trips around the area were highlights of our students' school experiences. An igloo at Lindenwood, that he and some students built , was a true high point. The trips to shows and ball games in Toronto were always fun. Ken always had an interesting in insightful comment in all our' lunch bunch' discussions
Ken was one of a kind and we'll miss him greatly.
To Betty we send our deepest condolences and thank her for the loving care she gave to Ken.

What can I say about Mr. Munro....kind,caring,gentle,concerned,funny,great teacher & even greater person...these all describe him. I was privileged to have Mr. Munro as my Grade 3 teacher at Victoria P.S. in 1959 & to re-connect with him via facebook 59 years later in 2017.
After all that time Mr. Munro was the same person that I described above. We joked about the song that we students in that class sang about him i.e. Mr. Munro broke his tow riding on a buffalo...the buffalo died...Mr. Munro cried...& that was the end of the Buffalo ride.
I remember that Mr. Munro took it upon himself to start after school broomball & he taught us the game.
Mr. Munro made my life better as well as the lives of all who knew him. Rest in peace my friend.

I was saddened to read of Ken's passing. Ken was my Grade 5 teacher at Bayview School, and he was the best teacher that I ever had. When I was heading off to UWO, Ken stopped by my parents' home to let me know that he had family in London if I ever needed a place to stay. Such a thoughtful gesture on the part of a caring teacher!
Wishing you peace and happy memories, Gayle Stegehuis

Betty, Ben and Marnie,
So sorry to read of Ken's passing. Being teachers both of us had many interesting conversations with Ken most of which ended in a good laugh. Our children had Ken as librarian at Victoria School and both have fond memories of him. He was special.

I was very sad to read about Ken and extend my condolences to his family and friends. He was my grade 7 teacher at Bayview and encouraged my love of reading with the loan of his own books. We reconnected at an event in Owen Sound many years later after which he generously sent me the books we’d shared as a gift and remembrance. I’ll be reading them again in his honour. I will always remember and appreciate his influence on my life.
Sincerely,
Jane (Holland) Mitchell

I have many memories of Ken throughout my life. First as a the best teacher ever, then as a colleague at Victoria School, and the most important as a life long friend. We had great adventures together. He gifted me a beautiful handmade wooden box that I keep my most precious things in but every time I look at it I think of Ken and how kind he was. I will miss him.
My thoughts are with you and your family.

Betty, Marnie and Ben. Ken was one of a kind !! As my Grade 8 teacher I remember everyone getting the evil eye at least once. He never said a word if you were disturbing the class. he just turned and stared at you for what seemed like forever until you melted into your seat. I was honoured to be asked to dance at Grade 8 graduation. As a co-worker at Victoria the kids loved him for his sense of adventure Later as a friend we took a few trips to Guelph to see Doreen and I got to know him as a buddy. We had many laughs together. I will miss him forever !!!

Mr. Munro was my grade 5 and grade 7 teacher at Bayview school and then long time friend. We often emailed back and forth about bits and pieces of our lives through the years. And, he kindly gifted me with a beautiful wooden hand-made box that I will always cherish. I send my condolences to your family and I thank you for all your kindness over the years. Rest well.

Ken was a great friend who will be missed. Several of us met weekly as part of the Lunch Bunch for decades enjoying Ken's participation and good humour well after his conversation was limited. I worked with Ken as a colleague at Victoria School, where he had excellent rapport with the students and made a valuable contribution to learning. His field trips were amazing.
After retirement, Ken took several trips with retired friends to many locations in Ontario and the USA. The trip to Daytona to the aviation museum there was likely most memorable.
My wife Lois and I really enjoyed the times together at lunches and visits to each others homes. Ken showed a joy for nature and fun that was infected us all. There was never a dull moment.
Thank you Betty for your fantastic support of Ken through the trying times of the last year and more. Your support really added to the quality of his life in this final battle.
Thank you Ken for being part of my life for many years. I greatly respect you and my memories of you will continue strongly.

Inspirational teacher, mentor, friend. Ken was one of a kind and I was so lucky to have him in my life, not only as a student but in all the years that followed.
May the fondest of memories and the knowledge of the impact he had on so many of those he taught, bring you comfort during this difficult time.
