Thanks for the service video. It was great to be able to listen. Rev Ed is a super fellow. Brenda’s thoughts made one think of Mary great giving. The civic weekend at Mar park was loaded with so much friendship when the Weir and Ashcroft family enjoyed that little beach with each of their family gatherings that happened on the same Sunday. We did move onto Red and Shirl’s back yard and now to Susan’s yard and is known as corn cob reunion—-that was because of doing the corn booth and pie booth at the Wiarton fair it got to have that name. The music one can see Mary and Lorne on the dance floor. Her treadle sewing machine finally wore out and that was when she decided no more sewing’s. Her family history was a great resource for Dave printing the “Lawrence history book” and was wonderful times for me to enjoy Mary and Floss together when we got together. What a world it would be to have it full of “Mary’s”

Dear Uncle Lorne, Ruth, Dave, Janice, Dennis & family:
Aunt Mary made my first long dress (to match Brenda's of course!) for Barb & Doug's wedding. She also served me warm milk and I didn't know til later WHY it was warm (the cow had just been milked!) :) It's funny how these memories pop back. I really appreciated Aunt Mary's scrapbooks--especially after mom passed away. She had every birth announcement and obituary clipped from the newspaper and stories to go with each. It was through Aunt Mary's memories of Paul and Ross, their two short years of life, their death, their funerals--that I got greater insight into mom & dad's grief--but also greater insight into what a GREAT FRIEND Aunt Mary was for mom--at the times she needed it most! It does not matter how old you are when you lose your mother, it's still an unexplainable loss. I hope you find peace in all your happy memories in the days and years to come xo Shirley

I was so fortunate to have many chats with Mary whenever I was having some sewing done. She was such a kind hearted woman. She would always be cooking something wonderful for Janice when she would be coming for lunch.
Mary would show me what she was working on in her quilting room. Such beautiful work. She will be missed.
Please know you’re in our thoughts and prayers.
With Heartfelt Sympathy

I was saddened to hear the loss of my Aunt Mary. My condolences and sympathy to Uncle Lorne, Ruth, David, Dennis and Janice, and to all family and friends who are all missing her now. Recalling my childhood years, I appreciate Uncle Lorne and Aunt Mary’s hospitality when our family visited. I treasure the childhood memories of large meals served to a crowd in her well organized farm kitchen. I can see the pies on the long table, the many pans on the wood stove and the kids playing. I always admired how farm women could juggle so many tasks, and with a smile. I can hear Aunt Mary’s little laugh. I can remember times when we slept over in the farmhouse and also later in town. I also appreciate the love shown when they took time off to visit us in Scarborough.
I recall many pleasant conversations over the years about family history. Aunt Mary’s keen interest in each person made us all feel connected and important to each other. Her desire to be precise carried over into her skills as a quilt maker. And she turned out some beautiful pieces.
In her later years, activities were more difficult but in my last phone call with her during the pandemic, she was still keeping us all connected and asked good questions to keep a conversation rolling. She was filled with expressions of love for Uncle Lorne and her family. She hoped that they all be well and do good. We will keep our memories of her In our hearts.
We wish we could give you all a warm comforting hug. Keith joins me in sending our love and warm thoughts.

Our deepest condolences to your family at this time.
I will always remember my first visit with Mary as she told me stories of my family that I had never heard before and then she reached into her trunk of family memorabilia and handed me the newspaper clipping of my parents engagement. Her interest and knowledge of family history has been a positive influence in my life and I am forever grateful.

Thank you Margie. Yes my mother was definitely a historian. I listened to family history on Saturday's when supposed to be dusting or vacuuming. Then, realized, `hey I need to know this and remember it.' Mom & I have now talked history for the last 7 months again. Not sure I can retain it. Now she won't be here for me to `I'll check with Mom' She will be missed.

Our deepest sympathies to you. I have fond memories or Mary and our days together at Wildwood Lodge. She taught me many things, such as the correct way to make a bed, more importantly she made me laugh. One expression I learned from her when we would do mid week touch ups of the cabins was “that was a lick and a promise”. I still say that today. Great woman! Donna and Murray Jansen
