Obituary of Brian Mills

MILLS, George Brian born April 6, 1922 in Dorman's Park, England, youngest child of George and Patricia Mills died August 15, 2022 in Wiarton, Ontario, peacefully in his own bed after a remarkable life filled with family, friends and adventure.

Predeceased by brothers Peter and David, sister Joan, mother of his children Mary (nee Manton) and love of his life Peggy (nee Griffen).  Dad to Rebecca (Randy), Laura (Steve) and Stephanie (Al).  Sirdad to grandchildren Lu Nelson (Margeurite), Jasmine Black (Michael), Dax Garratt and Jesse Garratt (Angela) and to great grandchildren James, Basil and Balthazar Nelson and Seth Garratt.  Uncle to nieces and nephews across Canada and the U.K.

Brian was fun-loving, spirited and resilient to the end.  From early childhood in England and New Zealand, adolescence in Victoria, WWII service in Europe, business ventures in Toronto, family life at Birch Creek in Caledon, to idyllic island life at Pigeon Hill in the Bahamas .... Brian lived and loved far and wide.  He was an avid horseman, tennis player, skier and sailor.  A keen bridge and scrabble player and prolific writer.

As a family we have been blessed with Dad's early home movies and later travel videos.  He wrote extensively of the Times of his Life ... leaving us all with good memories, great stories and tremendous insight into Brian the Man, profoundly impacting all who knew him.

Special thanks to Dr. Diodati and the compassionate personal support workers who helped his daughters with home care during Brian's last few years.  Private family arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton.  Family celebrations to follow.  Expressions of remembrance to the Wiarton Hospital c/o Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation would be appreciated.
