Connie, and your family. We are so sorry to hear of Howie’s passing. He was a brave, resolute and fierce fighter as he faced his medical challenges over the past years. We remember so many happy times at Gillies and the fun and exuberance he always brought to all of our gatherings. You have been a solid and loving support to him and we admire you for your strength and resilience.
Take good care of yourself over these next many months and know you were his life’s true love.
Love and hugs, Ray and Marlene

Dear Connie and family;
I was deeply saddened to hear about Howie’s passing such a short time after speaking with you Connie.
Howie and I were buddies for many many years. I considered him not only the BEST boss, but also a BEST friend.
We remained in touch throughout the years, although not in person as much as I would have liked.
I will cherish the memories of time spent up at the lake- touring the area, fishing, as well as hours of laughter.
RIP Howie with no more suffering, until we meet again.

Connie, Christy, Craig, and Carrie,
So sorry for your loss. Howie will be missed by many. His smile, his laughter, his kind and caring ways.
Cliff enjoyed the many years that he worked with Howie at Al's, and together we treasured the many years as friends of the family.
Perhaps right now they are solving the problems of the world or enjoying a rousing game of euchre.
For all of the family, I wish you peace and truckloads of happy memories.
God Bless.

Hi Connie, what a loss to you, your family and to the community. With you, I will miss Howie. I enjoyed his spirit and enthusiasm at the table of the Parks Advisory Committee. I recall you and Howie would cheerfully sell booze tickets at the community centre in Tobermory, a significant task in fund raising for charities.
I have n't seen you, or anyone, the last few years. I'm just starting to go to exercise in The Tub once more, expecting you to show up. Yesterday, I was shocked when someone announced Howie 's passing. Since then, I have been thinking of Howie and how he brightened the world. May your memories be sweet, Take care, Jan

Dear Connie, Christy, Craig and Carrie (AKA: The "3C" Wrecking Crew)
We do not know what words to say to express how we feel about the loss of Howie. He was a great guy and an awesome friend. We will always have such great memories to make us smile and fill our heart with love and laughter. Howie and his family have been a part of our family for many years - so much so he was like an older brother and I am sure he was Mom's Favorite! In the words of Hunter S. Thompson:
“Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Wow! What a Ride!” Thank you for including us in your Ride. You will be missed.
Love Brad and Glenda (Daly) West and our sons and their families Jim, Chris and Mike

Dear Connie, Christy, Craig, Carrie and families.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Howie. He was a great friend to our Dad and the reason we ended up at Gillies Lake.
I still can envision him smoking cigars and that boisterous laugh he had. We have a lot of great memories of time spent with him and Connie and various functions and at the Lake.

Dear Connie, Christy, Craig, Carrie and families.....So sorry to hear of the passing of Howie. He was an adventurer for sure! My memory is, he was always the first to test the ice at Gillies! Will never forget my trip with the two of you on the sailboat for a week, when we came back across rough Georgian Bay when even the Chi-Cheemaun would not do so!
Each of you will have so many memories of your husband, dad, and grandpa to cherish. Take care of each other.
Love, Cathy (Daly) Goodfellow xoxox
