Obituary of Donald Huehn

HUEHN, Donald Henry 'Donny' of Lion's Head in his 86th year passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of his kids and some classic country music on the evening of Friday, June 30th, 2023 at Victoria Hospital, London.    Devoted husband of Virginia 'Ginny' (nee Schwehr) for 61 years.  Proud father of Michael, Richard (Claire) (Toni pre), Colleen (Judy), Connie and Brent (Terry).  Much loved by 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.  Donny will be missed by his sisters Rose Witmer (late David) and Violet Rank and was predeceased by his siblings Keith (Barb), Gary (Pat) and Evelyn LeMasurier (Ted pre).  Also left to mourn his passing are Ginny's extended family.  Predeceased by parents Hilda (nee Hartman) and Lester Huehn.

Donny was an avid fisherman and hunter, loved a good round of euchre or cribbage, was an ace at the bean bag game, tossed a wicked horseshoe, made outstanding maple syrup and held happy hour every afternoon up until last week.  He was famous for 2 phrases - Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah and Keep the shiney side up.

The family would like to acknowledge the fact that Dad held many jobs throughout his career but his greatest accomplishment has been nursing our Mother for the past 4 years.  The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to the Doctors, nurses and staff and the entire Family Health Team at the Lion's Head Hospital for their exceptional care and compassion.

Family and friends are invited to share memories at the Lion's Head Rotary Hall on Saturday, July 15, 2023 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with memories shared at 2:00 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Lion’s Head Chapel, Lion’s Head.  Interment Eastnor Cemetery, Lion's Head.

In honour of his admiration for Dr. George Harpur, donations to the Tobermory Hyperbaric Facility would be appreciated.
