Daryl
It was such a blessing to meet you this past summer at Uncle Don and Aunt Pats anniversary celebration. Seeing Uncle Doug again after so many years was in so many ways, healing to my heart. As a little girl, Uncle Doug was always someone I looked up to. So many memories came flooding back as I talked with him that evening.
What a gift you have been to him. My deepest sympathies and my prayers are with you in your loss.
Sincerely
Cathy Prout (Parker)

We could not have asked to have better neighbors directly across the road from us. Between his stories, his humourous sayings, and his kind hearted and helpful nature he was more than all of that. There isn't anything he wouldn't do for you. He was so independent and lived life to the fullest, I always looked forward to the annual Springtime dock installations; especially the planning part and trying to remember where exactly it was located from the previous year, oh and getting the sections in the right order.
There are a lot of things I will miss about Doug but most of all his friendship. He was a true friend. When D&D were away, and we were coming up, I always missed being able to chat with him. Thankfully, I will have the memories of those chats we had together.
Our deepest condolences to Daryl and the family.

In honoring Doug's memory, we find ourselves at a loss for words to truly capture the essence of who he was. This past year has been a gift, filled with cherished memories that transformed Doug into not just a neighbor but a fatherly figure and a dear friend. In a world where genuine connections are scarce, Doug's presence was a rare treasure.
Our hearts hold a special place for the laughter we shared during farkle nights and the joyous celebrations that marked our time with Doug. His warmth, kindness, and generosity have left an indelible mark on our lives.
As we say goodbye, Doug's spirit will forever live on in our hearts, a testament to the love and goodness he spread throughout the community.
Rest in peace, dear Doug.
Sending heartfelt hugs to Daryl and the family.
With love,
Heidi and Yahya

Our time spent with Doug was filled with fun and laughter. Doug was always welcoming and happy to see us when we got together. He made us feel like we were very special people. Doug liked to share stories and always listened to our stories too! He never complained about anything and had a fabulous positive outlook on life. We will miss him dearly and our memories of the fun times we shared will be a great comfort. Sending love and hugs to Daryl and all the family.

We had the good fortune of knowing Doug for several years. No matter what was asked of him, he freely gave his time and expertise regardless of how small or large the job. His laughter was infectious and we will miss him forever. All of our love to Daryl and family.

These are Northern Lights above Doug and Daryl's Eagle Harbour home. As seasonal neighbours we enjoy sharing social time, boating with Empty Pockets, Canada trivia, Cornhole wins but mostly admiration for Doug's tremendous spirit and resilience in difficult times. Thank you Daryl for your tender care. Our sympathy.

I am so sorry to hear of Doug's passing. He was my friend and neighbour in Tobermory. He taught me many things about maintaining my property by helping me with it but more than that he helped me through some difficult times. We enjoyed many conversations around the wood stove in the garage.

I only knew Doug for the past four years, but I'll always remember his smile. It turned out he was a friend of the original owners and builders of our cottage and had helped out with additions and improvements over the years. So he was a fount of knowledge about the place. But closer to the heart, I spent some time with Doug in his workshop/garage puttering on mechanical projects while he put more wood in his woodstove and cracked jokes with the cold winds whistled outside. Warm memories. I'll miss him.

Daryl…..I am so sorry for your loss. I was so thrilled to be part of your and Doug’s surprise wedding this past May. He was so happy getting down on one knee proposing, and marrying his best friend, all in the same afternoon. What great memories ❤️ As the sunset tonight on Lake Huron, I pictured Doug sailing off into the horizon. RIP my friend.

My dearest Daryl: I always looked forward to your visits when you and Doug passed through on your way to east coast and even on that very short visit when COVID decided to cut the trip short. The two of you made amazing couple. I am glad that he got to enjoy his Biederlaken. Your parents send Jim and I a poem several years ago along with a Christmas card. The last paragraph said, "....and whether we have known you for many years or a few, in some way you have had a part in shaping things we do. So every year when Christmas comes we just realize anew, the biggest gift that God can give is knowing folk like you" . We were blessed to have known Doug. Love always, Amy Bancroft-Everaars.

Doug, always an inspiration! I will make myself one of those cards for my wallet. Honoured to have known him, blessed to have had the opportunity to hang out with him. A generous and kind spirit.
Heartfelt condolences to Daryl and Scott and Jody.
