Dorothy and I are sadden to hear of the passing of Tess and yet rejoice because now she is safe in the arms of Jesus. Truly she was a faithful servant of the Lord.
I wrote the following poem in tribute to Tess:
O Lord of comforting grace
hold those that are mourning in Your warm embrace,
Their loved one has laid her sword down
she fought the fight and through Christ the victory's won.
For Tess's life I now give praise
my voice of thanksgiving I boldly raise,
Thank you for the lives she touched along life's way
truly she has made a difference in the world today.
She loved to work with children and those in need
for the weak and the hurting she would plead,
She desired to make Jesus known
in her ministry and daily walk He was shown.
I pray for her love ones now as they grieve
from You Lord comforting grace may they receive,
Wrap them in Your strong loving embrace
our comforting presence in them, may they trace.

We were saddened to hear of the recent passing of Tess, our dear friend for many years. She is now, indeed, in her heavenly home without pain and suffering. We treasure our time with her spent in youth and children's ministry in the Salvation Army and in a supportive role via the Gideons of Canada (scripture distribution). We will miss her commitment to serving Christ , her hardworking and compassionate approach to life and her hearty laugh and friendly demeanor .
God Bless and Comfort all the family.
Blessings, Bob and Lorna Hamilton/Owen Sound

Tess was one of the most self-forgetting people I know. Her focus was always outward to others.
Her own trials were just inconveniences that needed to be dealt with - never her focus.
She had great sense of humour, a quick wit and an easy access to laughter.
She also did not suffer fools - she was just a beautiful, earthy person.
A huge legacy and a huge loss for us all.

Tess and I bought a house together and lived happily there with her daughter Robi, and my sons Alex and Sebastian for a number of years. We shared so many wonderful times. She and I also worked together in the daycare field which was her passion at that time. I can't begin to relate all of our experiences over the years. But one thing I must say -- and I have shared this with many, many people over the years -- Tess is the most altruistic person I have ever met. She will be sorely missed by everyone who benefitted from her love and caring. We all will miss you, dear Tessie!

We are so deeply sorry to hear this news. Our condolences to Robi, Mary, Stephanie, and all of Tess's family. As you well know, there are no words to capture the immense love and beautiful spirit that Tess brought to this world and so many lives. She had the ability to wrap everyone she encountered in love and light. Tess demonstrated the essence of unconditional kindness and support. She has no doubt left a beautiful legacy in all the communities that she participated in.
You will be missed, Tess. We are invited to be thoughtful of the ways in which we can carry on your spirit of generosity and kindness.

Tess was an amazing lady! I had the privilege to work with her on a couple of committees and she had a big heart to help those in need. My prayers for her family that God will give you peace knowing she is now smiling, her big smile, in the arms of Jesus. Til we meet again.

Tess was such a beautiful soul. She was part of the afternoon school program when my children were younger and the love and patience she displayed was unmatchable. I have no doubt she will be missed by many and to all of us that had the pleasure of crossing her path, we are grateful.

I was a cadet/pastor-in-training with The Salvation Army at Wiaton Community Church a few years ago, working under the supervision of Major Mary Millar for the summer. I had the chance to work with Tess on several occasions and grew to love her as a woman of God and a person who was always ready to do whatever needed to be done despite her uncertain health. She has always been a bright light in my memory of that time, and I grieve that she's left us. At the same time, I praise the God she loved so dearly that He's brought her safely home to Him, just as she trusted Him to do. My condolences to Tess's whole family and the community that loved her. You are, and always will be, in my prayers.
Blessings, Kathryn Dueck

Sunday school, Pioneer Club, Day camp, Tradestart, fundraising dinners, outreach meal program, the list of programs Tess and I ran together or volunteered together through the years is never ending, prior to us meeting there are a hundred more programs Tess was apart of all over the country, I was so incredibly blessed to follow her lead, to learn from the very best children's advocate in the entire country. I will miss our walks in the park with Frodo, lunches at Topnotch and the Wiarton Airport, I will forever cherish the memories, including spending the last 2 weeks with Tess. She was smiling and happy, always thinking of someone else, even when in hospital she was worried someone would miss a meal. She is the definition of love, and will forever and always watch over the thousands of lives she has touched. 10 years ago I walked into the Salvation Army and I found a home, because Tess invited all to walk the path of life with her, she loved unconditionally she was the mom I never had, she helped me find my way to God, and away from a turbulent, troubled family. She helped me raise my daughter Isabelle, her beloved Nana Tess. Frosty Freeze won't be the same without Tess, I wonder if there is ice cream in heaven. < ❤ I hope you are dancing in the sky with hands held high, home with your Savior. My condolences to her beautiful family who are equally as amazing as Tess, she was lucky to have each one of you, it is no surprise she was so full of love having you as her family.
