Dear Penny, we are so sorry for your loss and I have great memories of David at Dad's farmhouse. I remember us all as a group cycling to Lions Head on a sunny afternoon. David was always so friendly with the warmest smile, and a kind person who will be sadly missed. Hopefully many fond memories will bring you and your family comfort during this hard time.

Penny and David, you were both my real family in so many ways I can’t count. I will never forget the kindness and understanding you both gave to me during my sad time. Also I will never forget how happy Frank was when he and David decided to go into the beer business together. You have my heartfelt condolences.

I was very saddened to hear of David's sudden passing. He was a dear friend of 30 yrs or so.I look back on the many get-togethers and adventure trips shared with Penny and David. We would ski, snow -shoe, cycle and hike incl. the 'Coast to Coast' across England. We also took a few canoe trips in Ont.........Georgian Bay Islands, Tekagami and French River.and some more relaxing trips to Italy,Cuba, Florida and Costa Rica.
David was very kind and always willing to help others. A few years ago, Penny and David invited a number of people to Christmas Dinner. The weather was so extreme that they told everyone to stay home and David braved the weather and delivered the dinner to each home (Me incuded)
Did I mention that David was a great cook and always contributed to the lavish dinners they hosted?
He will be sadly missed by many people.

Penny and Leslie, so sorry to hear about David. I have many great memories over the years starting from when you babysat Richard and I to when I last met David at the Lions Head farmers market for coffee. I think he got his Dad jokes from my Dad. Both are missed but hope they are now somewhere sharing jokes together!

Dear Penny and Leslie,
I know it's been so very long since we spent time together, but I have wonderful childhood memories of spending time with your family on chalk lake. Fishing and swimming, playing games and watching James Bond and Steve Martin movies. I felt so comfortable it was like having another family. David always had a big smile for me and answers to all my questions ... like how does a diesel engine work ? ...and where's the turbo button on your trans am ?!? It was David Hosken who took me and Kyle to our first leaf game. He also took us fishing on Lake Ontario where I caught the biggest fish I ever caught. A great memory!
I'm so sorry for your losses and difficulties. I'm thinking of you and wishing for you strength and peace,
Dave Skura and family

Dear Penny and Lesley
I was so sad to hear the news that David had passed. I have such wonderful memories of David (and the whole family) over the course of my childhood and young adulthood- David was such a warm, kind and good natured human, who also had the worst Dad jokes of all time :-). To this day, when i say "I am hungry" i can hear David say "I thought you were Jennifer" :-). Penny and Lesley, I am thinking of you so much and sending you all the love in the world.

We met Dave and Penny at the church shortly after we moved to Lion's
Head in 2014. They invited us to their house the next year and we
borrowed their canoe and kayak, went paddling around Little Lake
followed by a cruise from Barrow Bay to Lion's Head and back in their motorboat.
A few weeks later they visited us for lunch in Lion's Head and joined
us on the deck. Our dog was busy chasing hornets and wasps and her chain
kept crossing Dave's legs but he took it all in stride - what a gentleman.
Dave and Penny joined Jim and Sharon Winegarden in hosting the many
free-soup luncheons on Saturday at the church, sometimes there were four
different soups.
Dave and I often tellered together at church after the service. He
insisted on having lunch first and socializing, the counting could came later.
When a comfort height toilet was needed at the church, Dave picked one
up at Costco and we heaved it off the back of his truck together. He
often picked up items from Costco for other people in the community.
During the COVID years, Dave and Penny tirelessly delivered meals to
the seniors at the Hayes apartments until restrictions were removed.
Those are the most memorable things but there were more.
We will all miss this gentle giant!
David Rodgers, Lion's Head
