This is the ultimate romantic story. These women fell in love with Canadian soldiers, married them, left their homes and more than 44,000 British women and their children boarded ships to Canada Statistics show that 1 in every 30 Canadian families come from a war bride family. One such woman was Beatrice Agnes English, (nee Longhurst). Beatrice left England in 1946 with her then infant son James. After her Canadian soldier husband James Noble English joined her back in Canada, they added twins Jacqueline and Gina and another daughter Janet to the family. At Beatrice's request cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday April 14, 2012, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at 7394 Highway 6, Tobermory (at her home). Arrangements entrusted to the George Funeral Home, Wiarton.
