Obituary of Roy Baillargeon
John Roy Baillargeon passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at Parkwood Veterans' Hospital in London on Friday February 27, 2015. Roy Baillargeon, formerly of Cambridge, in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Gloria of Cambridge. Dear brother of Earl and his wife Mary of Wheatly. Predeceased by his son Murray and sisters Jean and Ada. Roy will be lovingly remembered by Gloria's children Carol Henning of Cambridge, Bill McNair (Barb) of Miller Lake and JoAnne Bates (Lenn) of Cambridge. He will be sadly missed by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Roy was born on December 18, 1921 in Comber, Ontario just outside of Windsor. At the age of 19 he joined the infantry as a machine gunner and later became a stretcher bearer serving in both Italy and Holland. Roy, a decorated war veteran of WWII, was proud of the service that he was able to give to our country. He was also proud to be a member of the Royal Canadian Legion for over 65 years - most recently with Preston Branch #126. In their retirement, Gloria and Roy enjoyed travelling extensively, until his declining health made it too difficult. They enjoyed many winters at their home in Florida, as well as many summers at their home in Tobermory, before moving to Cambridge. Special thanks to the staff of Parkwood Hospital for the excellent care they have given Roy over the past six years. The funeral service will be conducted at the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service. Rev. Michael Quesnel officiating. Spring interment Eastnor Cemetery. Expressions of remembrance to the Royal Canadian Legion Preston Branch #126 would be appreciated.
