Obituary of Kenneth MacNay

MacNAY, Dr. Kennethof Wiarton passed away at Wiarton Hospital surrounded by his family on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 in his 74th year.  Cherished husband and best friend of Arlene and loving father of Sterling (Agnès) MacNay of Owen Sound, Ramsay (Karen Busche) MacNay of Dundas and Regan MacNay of Wiarton.  Special grandfather of Emeline, Cédric, Chloë, Sophie and Molly.  He will be sadly missed by his brothers Robert (Mary) MacNay of Goderich and Donald (Charlene) MacNay of London and brothers-in-law Vaughn (Merla) Johnstone of Milton and Darryl (Chris) Johnstone of Saskatoon.  Dr. MacNay was predeceased by his parents Margaret (Button) and Alexander MacNay and his brother Gordon.Dr. MacNay graduated from the University of Western Ontario in 1963.  After completing his internship at St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver, he spent 2 years in Inuvik, NWT.  Dr. MacNay moved to Wiarton in 1966 and took wonderful care of the residents of the Peninsula until his semi-retirement in 2010.  He was drawn to the Peninsula by his love of the water, rocks and trees and was an avid conservationist.  He was also a natural pilot and spent many hours flying his plane over the Peninsula.  Many will know Dr. MacNay from his second passion of playing the bagpipes and he was instrumental in the re-establishment of the McLaren’s Pipes and Drums.Visitation will be held at the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton on Sunday, May 29, 2011 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  The memorial service to celebrate Dr. MacNay's life will be held at St. John's United Church, Berford Street, Wiarton on Monday, May 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m.  Cremation has taken place.  Donations made to the Bruce Peninsula Health Services Foundation, McLaren’s Pipes and Drums or Grey Sauble Conservation Authority would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.  Condolences may be sent to the family through the link below.I would like to Send Condolences Back to Notices Home | History | Services | Our Facilities | Notices | Contact Us | Links
