Obituary of Vera Lavalley

 LAVALLEY, Veraof Wiarton passed away at Gateway Haven Nursing Home on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Peter Lavalley and dear sister of Isabella Akiwenzie of Wiarton. She will be sadly missed by her niece Verlyn Akiwenzie-Jones (Richard Jones) of Cape Croker and great nephews and nieces David Moyer (Marilyn) of Owen Sound, Peter Theide (Vanessa Keeshig) of Cape Croker, Sheila Janes (Edwin Janes) of Cambridge and Angela Lewis (Kevin Lewis) of Cambridge and great great nephews and nieces Cyrus Keeshig, Edwin Keeshig and Jasmine Keeshig all of Cape Croker, Michelle Lewis, Michael Lewis, Joshua Janes and Shannon Janes all of Cambridge. Vera was predeceased by her parents Roseanne (Chegahno) and Percy Pedoniquott, sister Helena, brother-in-law Edwin Akiwenzie and niece Edwina Moyer (and her husband Daniel Moyer).Vera placed a great importance on education for both herself and others and in fact obtained a Masters of Education. She also felt very strongly about giving back to the local community and was instrumental in supporting the Wiarton Hospital as well as the Nawash Scholarship Foundation. Her friends and family will miss her generosity and many words of wisdom.In respect of Vera's wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be no funeral home visitation or service. Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, Wiarton. Donations made to the Wiarton Hospital or Nawash Scholarship Foundation would be appreciated by the family as expressions of sympathy.
