I wish to send my condolences to cousin Sandra and Jerry and Ian's daughters, Ashley and Janelle. I have many found memories as a child of Ian and his friendly jovial nature when we would visit the farm as children with mom and dad( Fred and Dianne Hoehn). Thinking of you all and seeing Ian's brilliant smile and laughter as you all celebrate his life today.
All my love,

Dear Hellyer family,
I only have a picture or two to give you as comfort....but please know that growing up all the time spent in your kitchens and eating your gramas sweetpeas was very special to me....and Ian will be in my memory with all those Hellyer smiles....and with his little ones down by the lake at the Loomis cottage....and biking in the terry fox run...such kindness and laughter....I just wanted to say thankyou for all my good memories. Please know you are in my thoughts and that I wish I had better words and more pictures to give you.

Dear Ashley & Janelle, Sandra & Gail, Jerry & Mary Ellen, Kris and extended family:
Please accept my sincere condolence in the passing of Ian. Regrettably I am going to be out of country for work and not able to attend and pay my respects in person on the 9th, however, please know I will be thinking of you and will hold you in my prayers.
My first memory and frankly it was my ongoing reflection of Ian, is of a man who welcomed you and made you feel at home from the second he extended his hand to you in friendship. His smile and laughter was engaging and contagious and he delighted in entertaining and making everyone in his presence feel like you were part of the family. He had a heart of gold and I will treasure with fondness my memories of a man who was loved and admired and who loved his family and friends with great pride and passion.
With Sincere Sympathy,
Bill Walker

My heart hurts with the passing of Ian, his smile, laughter and his humor will be remember on by all. While I was a friend of Sandra in our youth , there was Ian as cute as a button and always smiling.
He will be singing his songs to Ruth, Kay and Walter and every once in awhile we will hear him in the wind and it will bring a smile to our face.
Sending love and strength to you all. Sheila Scott Butchart

I will always remember the last time I saw Ian. He was happily yard-saling, and came in to check what I had,
Kris, you were there, and one or two of you girls. He was interested in Rocky's tool kit. He spoke kindly of Rocky, and said he was very happy to buy it, 'cause he had good memories of Rocky. There was also a search on for the old window frames.
I am glad I have this memory of a happy, sunny afternoon, when Ian was happy and sporting that wonderful smile of his.

This is mostly for my girls, Ashley & Jenelle. I've done a eulogy for four previous deaths in my family but this one is too hard. When Ian was born I was ten years old & I helped to look after him at the store. I felt like his second Mom. We all spoiled Ian as a child but you couldn't help it-he was so darn cute.
Ian had some hard challenges in his life - losing his wife, then Mom, his dog LB & lastly Dad. We will never forget his new, large shed burning down & then being rebuilt.
He never felt that he was good enough - his cup was always half empty. It is a shame that we could see all his talents but he had blinders on.
I know that he will be at peace now & with all the family that has gone before him.
This has been a very tough week but I know, with all the family & friends support, we will get through this.
There will never be another guy like Ian- he was one of a kind.

As a young girl, I remember "Uncle Ian" as the roomie in the basement at Percy and Jerry's, who added even more fun to the already exciting home on Valleyview. There was always laughter and smiles. Ruth came along and there were more laughter and smiles. I think their wedding was the first one that I had ever attended. Great memories. I worked with Ian at A&P/Metro for 29 years. Back when we were the "evening guys", he in the meat department and me next door in the produce department, we would have many conversations about various things from farming to life in general. If I wanted a good cut of meat, he was my go to guy. I would return the favour when he was looking for some produce for his girls.
I will always cherish those moments because Ian was a great friend and great company to be with on those otherwise uneventful evening shifts. His laugh was a cackle that would just make everyone around him laugh, even when hearing it from a distance. I can safely say, Ian was very well liked by all of the staff at A&P/Metro, past and present. He will be greatly missed.
My sincere condolences to his family, especially his two daughters.

I am truly saddened to hear of your loss. Ian was one of my best friends growing up in Lions Head. That keen sense of humour and big smile couldn't help but be contagious . My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Dear Jeanette,
Rob and I met your Dad at the Fitz opening, he had a beautiful smile and seemed like a lovely guy. We are so sorry for your loss. Words are never adequate at a time like this. Our deepest condolences to you and your family at this sad time .
