Bev, Mel, Tim and Jennifer were just the neatest family when my brothers and I were growing up in Brooksdale. So incredibly welcoming to us rural-newbies, they took us in like their own. Home-making 4H club meetings with Bev as leader were more fun than a barrel of monkeys. Team-counselling with Tim and Jennifer at Bimini was absolutely the best of times, and we were so pleased that our own kids had the opportunity to experience the Matheson magic at Camp Celtic when you all moved north, though Brooksdale missed you all like crazy. Bev was truly one-of-a-kind; and it was a privilege to have had her in our young lives.

Hey Mel and Tim, et all:
Very sad to hear about Bev's passing. Loved the old girl. Full-fledged crazy and if there's one thing I know and appreciate it's crazy. Tough time, but it's awesome that it was peaceful with you guys there. I still look back fondly on Bruce and Norma's anniversary at the lodge.
Never spent as much time with Bev as I would have liked, but I enjoyed every minute.

To the Matheson Family. We were so shocked to hear about Bev. Such a lovely lady full of and enjoying life in every way. Had not seen Bev for along time, it seemed our paths did not cross as often as they use to. About a month ago coming out of the grocery store in Wiarton and we met in the parking lot. We met and had a short visit but it was wonderful to see her. She had that same big smile as the 2 pictures you have chosen for this web site. That big smile was always the most wonderful things about Bev. I will always remember, I think she called it the “Mrs. Santa Claus” outfit she would wear at Tamarac when ever we had our Christmas Party at the Inn. We would have so much fun with her and the staff. We are unable to be there on Saturday, but will be thinking of you all. She is looking down at you all with such pride. Hugs to you all. XOXO

We got to know Bev during many family dinners over on Tamarac Island. A warm and generous host she was, and very good with our children. No matter how busy things were at the Inn, Bev made every guest feel special and no request was too great. Any child in a high chair got a free meal.
It was a sad day when the Inn closed but Bev still kept in touch with us. Given the many demands on her time we thought that was pretty special. Bev's handwriting was as remarkable as she was - some of the finest penmanship I've ever seen - and that goes for her character as well. Quality people are hard to forget.

The Woods' and Mathesons were closely tied for many years and my most vivid memory of Bev is how she always put fun first for us kids. Mel , Tim , Jennifer and families - I was deeply saddened to hear about Bev. She was truly a one in a million lady! She was funny, loud, and brutally honest to all she met and called a friend. Some of the more funnier moments growing up were when Bev and Mel came for a visit. I have been hearing that loud laugh of hers all weekend - and the little snort that always followed!! Please know that I am thinking of you all - and remembering a family friend that I loved, adored and respected.
