Obituary of Beverley Anne Matheson

MATHESON, Beverley Anne passed away peacefully surrounded by her entire family at the Owen Sound Hospital Friday morning October 6, 2017.  Bev (nee Spearin) of Oliphant, formerly of Embro, was in her 80th year.  Born in St. Mary's, Bev was the treasured only daughter of Marjorie (Stewart) and Douglas Spearin. Sixty years ago she met and then married her lifelong best friend Melvin Matheson. Bev was a devoted, caring and loving mother to Tim Matheson and his partner Terri of Lion's Head and Jennifer Moodie and her husband Wayne of Ingersoll. Bev was loved and will also be missed by Kris Matheson. She brightened the lives and shared her wisdom with her 6 beloved grandchildren, Rachel, Shannon and Shelby Jo Moodie and Adam, Scott and Ryan Matheson. All of Bev's brothers and sisters-in-law, Doug (pre) and Jackie Matheson, Tom Matheson, Connie and John Lauder, Glen and Sharon Matheson, Jim and Gerda Matheson and their families will cherish the memories they have of Auntie Bev. Beverley's varied careers as hairdresser, realtor and inn-keeper, as well as her extensive community and social involvement allowed her to form long and lasting relationships with hundreds of people. Her charm, wit and sense of humour will be remembered by anyone whose life she touched. The funeral service will be conducted from the BETHEL MISSIONARY CHURCH, 18 Ferndale Road, Lion's Head on Saturday October 14th at 2:00 p.m.  Additionally, there will be a Celebration of Bev's Life at the St. Mary's Golf and Country Club, 769 Queen Street East, St. Mary's on Sunday October 29th from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. with memories shared at 2:00 p.m.  Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, LION'S HEAD CHAPEL, Lion's Head.  Expressions of remembrance to Owen Sound Hospital Foundation or the Heart & Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family through www.georgefuneralhome.com
