Obituary of Russell William Ferguson

FERGUSON, Russell William while hiking the Bruce Trail, which he loved to do, on November 1, 2017.  He lived in Lion's Head and was in his 88th year.  Russell will be remembered for his dedication to horticulture, both professionally and personally, and is credited with creating many beautiful gardens.  Russell was known to spark enthusiasm for gardening in others and was at his best on the Bruce Trail with his family and friends.  Remembered as a man who was dedicated to the environment, loved to learn, enjoyed music, cherished his many dogs and had a wonderful sense of humour.  Beloved husband of Katharine (nee MacLachlan).  Cherished father of Dale and his wife Tanna of Okotoks, Alberta, Scott and his wife Karen of Kingston and Pamela Ferguson and her husband Bob Butcher of Smithville and step-father of Elspeth Soper, Andrew Soper and Tim Soper and his wife Wendy, all of Kingston.  Much loved grandfather of Jeffrey, Jonathan (Shanta), Ashley (David), Brittany, Courtney (Scott), Melissa (Curtis) Mark (Allyson), Anna, Sam, Jonathan and Alice and  great grandfather of Abby, Carter, Colton, Connor, Alison, Michael, Lilly, Laiya and Emma.  Dear brother Roy Ferguson and his wife Shirley of North York and Frank Ferguson of Victoria, B.C. and brother-in-law of Francis MacLachlan and his wife Rosemary of Kingston.  Predeceased by his sisters Norma Turner, Jean Bacso and Kathleen Hunter, brothers Les and Jim and brother-in-law Sandy MacLachlan.  Russell's extensive community and social involvement allowed him to form many long and lasting relationships and he will be missed by his many dear friends.  Private family funeral arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, LION'S HEAD CHAPEL, Lion's Head.  Expressions of remembrance to the Stephen Lewis Foundation would be appreciated.  Messages of condolence may be sent to the family through www.georgefuneralhome.com
