He will be greatly missed. A few years ago I read his Not wolf nor dog book and I was amazed that one man could remember and put to print so many stories of a life of joy and sorrow.

I wish to express my sincere condolences to the entire family of the late, great , " Wilmer Nadjiwon ". I only got to speak with Wilmer a few times over my 25 years of weekly / monthly trips to Cape Croker or up to Tobermory . I can only wish at this point I had more opportunities.
I am sorry I am unable to attend the funeral service due to previous commitments on rather short notice, however, I take comfort in knowing it will be a very well attended service with an out pouring amount of support of friends and community of the whole for Wilmer's family.

And so the day came when he came to the shore of the big water. He saw a group of little boats made from cockle shells. They shone in the sunlight. He climbed into one of them and the wings of Raven pushed him out to sea. The swimmers, flyers travelled with him toward the white veil. The four leggeds ran along the shore calling to him. At the white veil stood his Ancestors arms open wide and singing, "it is finished in beauty, it is finished in beauty."

What an honour and privilege to have known Wilmer and spent time with him over the past 18 years in Tobermory. We treasure his artwork and his stories are held forever in our hearts. His humour and wisdom made every encounter very special. To be greeted with his warm smile and signature hat always led to a memorable moment. May all those who loved him feel the enormous blessing of having him and know how we all appreciate what he shared in his remarkable lifetime.

Please accept my deepest condolences! He was a good man with a huge, kind heart.
Years ago Dean Sayers and myself did some work for him at the camp and we were always warmly received and had a joyful time. He treated us (and our entire group!) like family and ensured we left with full stomaches and smiles on our faces. I remember those days fondly and am grateful for all his kindness.
May his memory be eternal.

Chief Greg Nadjiwon for Chief and Council posted a condolence
Thursday, January 4, 2018
The Chief, Council, and Community extend our sincerest condolences to the family of the late Wilmer Nadjiwon who passed into the spirit world on the morning of January 3rd 2018.
I believe that Wilmer was the oldest male Community member, and was the last surviving Veteran of W.W.2 from Nawash.
The life and times of Mr. Nadjiwon are many as during his lifetime he was heavily committed to the First Nation Political scene and served the Community as Chief for 5 consecutive terms from 1964-1973 with one term on Council 1987-1989. As well as being a Political advocator Wilmer was an accomplished carver earning him the title of The Indian Carver, an artist and an author [Neither Wolf nor Dog].
To list all of the accomplishments would in itself become a short story, and I will sum his life by saying that Wilmer my uncle, friend, mentor and he set the bar very high for those following in his footsteps. May his reunion in the Spirit World bring him Peace and Solace and be a wonderful, Joyous homecoming with family and friends.
