To the Blundon family, especially Chris:
Please accept my condolences on the passing of Diana. You have lost a very special person. We first met at the Rotary Centre (now Kids Ability) where you, Chris, and Jonathon soon became friends. Diana was absolutely charmed by you and when she learned you were my foster kid she immediately wanted to adopt you but thought that was not possible since there were already four Blundon kids. Since people weren't exactly lining up to adopt a little boy with cerebral palsey no matter how charming, I suggested she might try. It did happen, and for my family, parting with you after four years, though difficult, was easier knowing that you were going to a wonderful home.
Diana brought you and your siblings for occasional visits. On one of the first, we were all outdoors and you, with your little walker, headed off across the big, back yard to visit the neighbours as you had often done. Trying to climb the terrace sent you sprawling and and one of your brothers ran to pick you up but Diana said, "Wait. Let him try to get up by himself. If he can't, then go to help him." At that moment I knew you were in exactly the right family, one that would encourage rather than pamper you, but be there to help when needed. You were determined already as a little boy and you have achieved much but I have no doubt that Diana's wise and patient direction, along with the love and encouragement of the entire family, deserve at least some of the credit. I have many other fond memories - and a flower pot she crafted on a potter's wheel which I will always treasure. You have lost an amazing person, a treasure. May God's love comfort you as you grieve her loss now and in the days to come.
Love,
Ferne Burkhardt

I’m so sorry to hear of Diana’s passing.
The world has lost a ray of sunshine.
She will be remembered by myself and my children as a force of positive energy, and encouraging words. My heart aches.

Auntie Di was so important to me! I regret so much not staying in touch with her threw the years. I owe so much of who I am to her and the loving care she gave me when I was young. She taught me to be kind and loveing. She showed me endless patience even when I was difficult. When my son was diagnosed with cerebral palsy, her actions and love were all I could think of. She is one of the most amazing human being to ever exist on this planet! To this day I think of her and her amazing family often. I love you all and am so sorry that she has passed but I know that wherever she is now must be the most amazing place their is because Auntie Di deserves nothing but the best like she brought to all of us. Rest peacefully and know you are so loved!
Forever the child you brought love to

"There are special people in our lives that never leave us even after they are gone.”
Diana is one of those people.
I met Diana, her husband Wally and their adorable children through my work at KidsAbility, formerly The K-W Rotary Children's Centre. I always looked forward to her visits, her endearing smile, her positive outlook and the love that shone through to her family.
She will always be remembered by me.
Rest in peace good lady.

Our sincere condolences & prayers go out to Christopher and his family during this difficult time. Although we didn't know Diana personally she played a huge part in raising & shaping the lives of the children who were blessed to call her mom, including our nephew Christopher. We pray for the families healing and peace through the remembrance of this wonderful, caring woman!
