My memories of Aunt Ruth are limited to the age of ten, at which time she and Uncle Stanley sold their farm two doors down and moved to Wiarton. But I still remember foremost a quiet lady of purpose with a calm spirit.
As a relatively small child I randomly invaded her tranquil space many times and she offered me the peaceful setting I sought. I don’t remember conversations, I just recall quietly working together on puzzles, her small smile and quiet laugh whenever I startled her with some childish comment or question. I am sure she would have had to admonish me occasionally, but she was never unkind, just encouraging me to think differently about a person, or a situation.
Once she and Uncle Stan left the farm I only saw her a handful of times, but I will always cherish the peace and serenity that she offered me, a small unruly being descending on her quiet home.
Rest In Peace Aunt Ruth,
