We were so saddened to hear of Jan's passing in the Georgetown paper. Jan always had a great sense of humour and was well respected by her colleagues at John Fraser SS and served her students there so well. Our condolences to Bill and family - we remember you both from events in and around Georgetown and from Fraser. Warm thoughts to you all, Bett and Drew Leverette

Many in Georgetown learned with sadness of Jan's passing in the local paper of July 29th. It has impacted members of the Canadian Federation of University Women (CFUW) Georgetown in particular. Jan was SPECIAL as a founding member and its first serving President. We had hoped to honour and welcome her - in person or virtually - to our 50th anniversary celebration this year. She is featured in several early photos and will retain with us a place of honour.

Dear Bill, Stephanie, Emily, "Uncle" Buck, and families, I was so shocked and saddened to find out that Janet has passed. On the numerous occasions that I met her throughout the years of my employment at the law office, she always impressed me as being a vibrant person dedicated to her family and to her students. I am sure Janet will be greatly missed and most fondly remembered by all. Sincere condolences to each of you and your families. Thinking of you at this difficult time and hoping that all of your great memories provide comfort.
Sincerely, MaryAnn Durham

Dear Bill, Stephanie, Emily and Families,
I am so sorry to hear of the sudden passing of Janet. Janet and I met one summer planning curriculum for the grade Thirteen English course at Glenforest Secondary School. We became fast friends and our children connected as well. It was because of your home in Tobermory that Tom and I purchased a cottage there as well. Janet always left me with a funny story that stayed with me the rest of the day. She connected with each of her students who benefitted by a caring professional who encouraged them to be their best. My thoughts are with you and your families as you come to terms with your loss.

Dear Mr Manderson, Stephanie and Emily,
We were so shocked and saddened to hear of Mrs Manderson's sudden passing this week.
She was a wonderful lady with great class and a beautiful smile. She was warm, easy to talk to and thoughtful. In fact our 13 year old son still sleeps with the blanket she made him when he was a baby :)
We know that she will be dearly missed by you all. May the wonderful memories you have of her live in your hearts forever.
Love, Kara. Paul, Jacqueline and Sam Vincelli

Jan was part of my life for 30 plus years. She became a surrogate mother. I’m so blessed that our families became an extension to my immediate family. Her laugh was infectious and her stories always memorable. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a joy to be around and I will miss her being a part of my life and family. Heaven got a new angel. We will miss you and thank you for allowing us to be part of your extended family.
All my love Kerri, Jason, Sarah and James

Simply said, Jan will be missed. A colleague you could count on for level headed, honest advice, care and compassion and a wickedly sly sense of humour. A solid champion of kids and staff in need. An excellent soul who absolutely was one of the good ones! I am deeply saddened by her loss,
