I cannot believe my grade 5 plus teacher is gone. It was so great hearing his voice a year or so ago. I shall miss him a whole lot and his family too. No doubt he and Pa are now bitching about Beer Store policy, the state of the world. Blessings to you.

To the Garinger Family. I am sorry to learn of Dave's passing. Dave had many friends, acquaintances and colleagues. I was a member of the OMHA and had many road trips with Dave, He was a leader in every way. He and I had many a great conversation about officiating in the OMHA with a rule book sitting front and centre on a table. A great friend and a great ambassador to our game. I will cherish and remember the time we spent together. Sincerest condolences to the Garinger family. Thoughts and prayers are with you. Rest in peace Dave.

I would to extend my sympathy to all of Dave’s family. He was a mentor to me when I was town contact for Chesley Minor Hockey, he was so knowledgeable and always able to answer any questions or solve any problem. The WOAA and OMHA are better organizations due to Dave, he will be sorely missed.

David left an everlasting impression on me. His witty exchanges of sarcasim and playful daily criticism of my wardrobe. To his friendly advice and encouragement " how to survive" a teenager. I always looked forward to our daily conversations as they were always enlightening and left a smile on both our faces. To the family of David my sincerest condolences.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Dave’s passing. The first time I met Dave was at a volleyball tournament, and I said to my co-coach, “Who the “heck” is that?” We played his team in the semi-finals, and I was pretty confident of the win because what would “that guy” know about volleyball…apparently a lot! The lesson I learned that day was to never judge a book by its cover. Fortunately for me, I had the good fortune to learn many more lessons from Dave while working with him at Amabel Sauble. He taught me to always remember the reason we became teachers - for the kids. Close the door, tune out the BS and teach. We called each other our “best friend at work”, and operated on a last-name basis; however, sometimes I called him “Grumpinger.” In return he would say things like “MacIntyre, does your mother know you took her curtains to make your pants?”
He was fun, wise, respectful, and hardworking. I became a better teacher, person and coach because of Garinger, and I feel truly blessed to have known him. Please know I am thinking about you as you say good bye to this special man.

To the Garinger Family
I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of Mr Garinger, I had the pleasure of having him as a teacher at Hepworth and then Sauble for my graduating year, as well as later in life with all his work in minor hockey. Learning from a good teacher is an experience that can sometimes be more profound then education itself…. The world lost an amazing man … and one of the best teachers and mentors. My dearest condolences to his family.

Bev, Ed and Joe please accept my heartfelt condolences on the passing of Dave. I spent a great deal of time with him during my 8 years with the OMHA. We shared many a rum and coke. I nicknamed him Sunshine which stuck with him during my time with the OMHA as he always brightened my day. After I left the OMHA we continued to speak on the phone regularly along with an occasional game of golf. I was invited to the OMHA AGM annually after I left the board and I went religiously so that I could see Dave and share a rum and coke.
I will dearly miss him but I will never forget him.

I was one of the lucky ones that got to have this wonderful man as a teacher for my grade 8 year at ASCS. He was also my coach for many school sports and really helped fuel my love and long lasting participation in them. I remember his smile as he shook my hand and gave me the sports award at our grade 8 graduation. I remember his sense of humor and how he always had a cup of coffee in hand. He was a great teacher, truly one of the best. My dearest condolences to his family.

Bev, Ed and Joe. We have made a donation to Lions Head Minor ball. I cannot do it through the web site, but will give a cheque to our neighbor who is in charge of it.
We realize the last while has not been easy to watch, but Dave is now resting peacefully. It can be so difficult to watch a loved one suffer. He will be watching over you all forever.
We always thought Dave was double jointed. He could reach, bend and run when in a fun competition like no other. Many great memories from the past.
Thinking of you all at this most difficult time.

So saddened to hear of Dave's passing I have lots of great memories of Dave through working with him at both Hepworth and Sauble schools. Dave and I and a coup!e of others who I won't mention, used to sneak down to the basement in Hepworth for a few puffs ! I can't believe we did that. I am sure it was his idea.
He taught my children in grade eight and coached my boys in hockey.
I was lucky enough to be his manager for a few years when he coached so that made for some enjoyable road trips.
Loved his sense of humour and dedication to all he did.
Sending big hugs to you all Hang on to those wonderful memories
