Thank you to Alma for the kindness he's always shown our families. His leadership in school, church and community has had a ripple effect through generations. 'Service above self' - as mentioned by Steve in his dad's tribute - a quality that was obvious in the daily life of Alma (Red) Leeder. A man who 'walked the talk'. God bless you, Shirley, Steve, Bert & families...he left a lasting legacy.

Red was one of a kind - a gentle, caring soul & an incredibly interesting person. I value the times we sat & chatted about all manner of things. He was one of the first to welcome me to the Rotary Club & always had very welcome positive words of encouragement during my years as President.
But most of all, I consider it a true honour that Red considered me as a friend.

Dear Shirley and Family.
My heartfelt condolences on your profound loss. I can't help but think the red carpet has been rolled out at the Pearly Gates to welcome Alma home. Without a doubt there is a stadium full of people waiting to greet their friend. When going through my Dad's treasures, there was a letter there to him from Alma. It was many many years old and my Dad held on to it and admired it often -
I still have it and will always keep it and Alma in my heart. Thank you to both Shirley and Alma who have shared so much of their lives in order to give to others. There are so many that will have a void in their lives going forward without Alma in it. Even if it was a brief encounter, it was a memorable one. I will always be grateful that I was on the receiving end of Alma's beautiful heart and generous disposition. I will forever remember him with great fondness and gratefulness.
God Bless

Little did I know that my Grade 8 teacher at Wiarton Public—“Mr.Leeder” would become “Red” in later life as my brother-in-law. When we moved up the hill to high school we were well taught in math, English etc. One fact is that we both had great tastes in marrying our best life friend of a sister and brother of the same family. There was always many fun gatherings and maybe the most famous one was doing the corn and pie booth at the Wiarton Rotary Village fair each civic holiday weekend. Celebrations galore trips, weddings, birthdays, funerals, family gatherings etc etc. and of course always good fresh garden produce from Red’s garden—kids loved the raspberry patch. And lots good food!!!!
This photo is of Red (with the white shirt) and the coach bus driver when he arranged the Grade 8 class trip to Detroit to visit the Henry Ford. museum and Chrysler car plant. Maybe some class mate can remember what we brought in each week to pay for the trip.. it seems to me that it was 25 cents a week as I was working at Mile Inn business and got 25.00 per week so could pay all at once for my share. We even got to stay at a big hotel.
Family history and gatherings were so important!!
Love and hugs Shirl. Steve, Bert, Donna,Susan and the kids. Bonnie
