Obituary of Verna May Bellmore

BELLMORE, Verna May peacefully, surrounded by family at Golden Dawn Nursing Home, Lion's Head Wednesday, September 21, 2022. Verna Bellmore (nee Watson) of Lion's Head in her 94th year. Predeceased by her husband Harvey (1998) and son Larry (1980). Cherished mother of Doug and his wife Sue of Pike Bay and Lisa Coombes of Pike Bay. Loved grandmother of Hailey and Wade. Predeceased by parents Elizabeth (nee Cutting) and James Watson, sister Grace McCoag and brothers Bill and Gordon as well as the Givens family - especially Archie and Emily.

Verna was born in Mar and after her mother died when she was 4 years of age she was raised by the Given family.  She attended Owen Sound Business College while boarding with the Christie family.  From there she was employed at the Book of the Month Club at their Owen Sound office.  Later Verna met Harvey at a Mar dance and they were married September 13, 1952.  Together they bought the farm on The Bury Road and raised their children Larry, Doug and Lisa.  She enjoyed farm life including milking, preserving, pickling, baking and her vegetable and flower gardens.  She also was an expert at piling wood.  Verna was always loving, kind and quiet.

The funeral service will be conducted from the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, LION'S HEAD CHAPEL, Lion's Head Tuesday, October 4, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation from 1:00 to 1:45 p.m. Interment Eastnor Cemetery, Lion's Head.
