Obituary of Ruth McLay

McLAY, Alice Ruth peacefully surrounded by family at Chapman House Residential Hospice, Owen Sound, Sunday September 25, 2022. Ruth McLay (nee Hardman) of Lion's Head in her 88th year. Beloved wife of the late Alex McLay (1996). Cherished mother of Dennis of Georgetown, Bonnie McCutcheon and her husband Dennis of Wiarton, Kyle and his wife Cathy of Lion's Head, and Paul of Lion's Head. Loved grandmother of Lindsay Williamson (Chad), Rose-Anne Bell (Bob), Larry McCutcheon, Jason McLay (Larissa), Kaitlin McLay (Graham Clark), Milten McLay (Stephanie), Candice Cunningham (Andy), Joey McLay (Brittany), step-grandchildren Kim Fendley (Larry) and Chad Conrad (Heather). Great grandmother of Elle, Reese, Noah, Mason, Alivia, Alice, Walter, Evelyn, Henry, Reid, Calder, Sam and David.  Dear sister-in-law of Doris Stewart (Murray) and Wallace McLay (Rhonda).  Ruth was a special friend of the late George Hellyer (2016) and will be remembered by his family.  Predeceased by parents Gladys (nee Weir) and Charles Hardman, brother Bruce (Lois), sisters Verna Shearer (Clinton), Sarah Hayes (Milton) and Reta McLay (Charles) and in-laws Emerson McLay (Isobel), Milton McLay, Bruce McLay and Shirley Schaffland.

Family and friends are invited to share memories at Bethel Missionary Church, 18 Ferndale Road, Lion's Head on Wednesday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.  The funeral service will be conducted from the church Thursday at 11:00 a.m. with visitation from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m.  Interment Eastnor Cemetery, Lion's Head.  Arrangements entrusted to the GEORGE FUNERAL HOME, LION'S HEAD CHAPEL, Lion's Head.  Expressions of remembrance to Lion's Head Hospital c/o Bruce Peninsula Hospitals Foundation or Chapman Residential Hospice would be appreciated.
